The Earth is crying

Wondering what we should do
How it affects me and you
As we fail to believe the signs, fail to curtail the crimes
The Earth is crying as we sleep, dying while we lie and we cheat
Why can't we understand, the Earth is crying?
How long do we have to wait?
Marking time in a fateful way
As we fail to believe the signs, fail to curtail the crimes
The Earth is crying as we sleep, dying as we lie and we cheat
Why can't we understand, the Earth is crying?
How long must we wait? I hope it's not too late
Will we pay the price, fail to see what's right?
The Earth is crying
How much more do they have to say
Before nations will change their way?
Will they still not believe the signs. fail to curtail their crimes?
The Earth is crying as we sleep, dying while we lie and we cheat
Why can't we understand, the Earth is crying?
Still we watch and wait. Maybe it's too late
Our children will pay the price and they already know what's right
The Earth is crying

Does nobody hear her calling?
A deep primeval sound
A million years watching, waiting
Her presence all around
As mankind used the Earth to make his progress
As mankind stole the Earth to make his world
Does nobody hear her calling?
Subliminal her sound
But now that her anger’s stirring
We feel it all around
Does mankind rule the Earth? We feel it’s ours
Can man control the Earth? Control our world?
Does nobody hear her calling?
Her growing wrathful ground
Now in these long days of quiet
Will people hear the sound?
Will mankind change our Earth? Consider how
To change the future Earth? To change our world?

Gaia

When Gaia woke and saw her Earth
Engulfed in smoke, her own flames spoke
So, as she turned, saw how Earth burned
She knew she had to act
We’d plundered, hampered and destroyed
Ignored the science, the facts denied
Trod money’s path, with power too
And let the despots thrive
For what is hers, should be ours too
But eons spent on just one view
The self – the self, and nothing else would do
Then Gaia woke
So Gaia turned. What could she do?
Let nature win, let nature choose
And sit and wait, its course to take
She did what she should do
And then she rested, closed her eyes
She’d used our habits to decide
She hoped the difference it would make
Would keep her Earth alive
For what is hers, should be ours too
But eons spent on just one view
The self – the self, and nothing else would do
Then Gaia woke
Then Gaia woke
